What We’re Watching: Hearing on Civic Education and Service in Schools – by Education Next

Two hearings held by The National Commission on Military, National, and Public Service are streaming live on Facebook today (June 20, 2019).

The morning’s hearing is on Civic Education and Service in Schools. The speakers will consider ways to expand civic education and to include more on public service in school curricula. More information on the policy options that will be discussed during this hearing can be found in the staff memorandum.

In the afternoon, a second hearing will explore how the government can develop or encourage an expectation of service in America, through a system designed to connect individuals to opportunities in military, national, and public service.
