What We’re Watching: Reauthorizing the Higher Education Act – Financial Aid Simplification and Transparency – by Education Next

The Higher Ed Act is due for reauthorization and there is broad agreement that the federal financial aid system needs to be fixed.

At a hearing on student debt held last week by the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee, Ed Next executive editor Matt Chingos (who also serves as director of education policy at the Urban Institute) suggested some changes to the way student loans work.
